Before answering the following questions, what thoughts and remarks does the key idea for CINUM 2007 - "maximizing the ability we have to forge our own future" - inspire to you? By focusing on the role of technology, considered as means to widen capacities of action and choice, or on the contrary as constraints and impositions of logics outside the human being.
1- In your own work and action, how do you interpret this idea and eventually how do you put this idea in practices?
2- If you look back 10 years, do you have the feeling that collectively, we have more, or less, ability to influence our own future?
- In which areas and/or due to which changes, do we have more, or less, ability to influence our own collective future?
3- Still looking back 10 years, do you have the feeling that individually, we have more, or less, ability to influence our own future?
- In which areas and/or due to which changes, do we have more, or less, ability to influence our own personal future?
Let us now look ahead 20 years, towards 2025-2030. Think of your children or the children you know well, and to their abilities to forge their own future.
4- Suppose you meet an oracle who knows all the answers about the future. What are the 3 questions you would like to ask this oracle about what choices/possibilities these children, when they grow up, will have about building their own future?
5- Now suppose you are this oracle, you know the future and are asked the same 3 questions. What answers would you give to each question?
6- Based on this, which are the most important types of decisions that people must make today?
